Frequently asked questions

Is a fun casino gambling?

No. Guests play with fun money that has no cash value, nobody pays to play and the chips can't be swapped for money. Fun casinos with no real money are a normal part of UK events.

So what do people win?

Bragging rights, mostly. Many hosts add prizes for the top players, which are completely up to you. At the end of the night the croupiers count up the chips and the prizes are handed out raffle style.

Which games can we have?

Roulette, blackjack and Texas Hold'em poker are the most popular. Three card poker is often available too. Craps is less common, so ask and we'll check.

How many tables do we need?

As a rough guide, one table for every 15 to 25 guests playing at a time. Not everyone plays at once, so 60 guests usually need two tables and 150 might want four or five. More in our post on how many casino tables you need.

How much space does each table need?

Allow an area of about three metres by three metres per table, and a little more for roulette, which draws a crowd. That gives room for the croupier and players standing round.

Do the croupiers teach people how to play?

Yes. They're used to beginners and explain as they go. Most people pick up roulette in a couple of spins and blackjack in a few hands.

Do the tables need power?

Not usually. Fun casino tables don't normally need a plug, which makes them easy to put in marquees, halls and function rooms. If anything's needed for your set-up, we'll tell you.

How long does setup take?

Usually about an hour, done before your guests arrive. Packing away is quicker. Let us know your venue's access times and we'll pass them on.

How long do the tables run?

Around three hours is the most common. It's long enough for everyone to have a go without the tables going quiet later on.

What do the croupiers wear?

They usually wear smart casino dress, such as waistcoats and bow ties or black evening wear, so they fit in at formal events and themed nights.

Is there a dress code for guests?

That's up to you. Black tie suits Bond and Monte Carlo nights, while Vegas can be as loud as you like. Our casino night dress code guide has ideas.

Can we personalise the fun money?

Personalised fun money is often available, with your logo, names, a date or even a photo. It usually costs a bit extra and we'll confirm the options with your quote.

Will my venue allow a fun casino?

Most venues are used to them. Some have rules about outside suppliers, insurance documents or load-in times, so check with your venue and tell us what they need.

Can we use a fun casino to raise money for charity?

Yes, and lots of groups do. Fundraising usually comes from ticket sales, donations for extra fun money and donated prizes. We don't give legal advice, but we'll talk through your set-up with you. See charity casino nights.

How much does casino hire cost?

A fun casino with two or three tables typically costs £450 to £900 for around three hours. More tables, Saturdays, December and London usually cost more. See our price guide.

Do you own the tables?

No. We book trusted fun casino partners for your date and look after the booking for you, so you can check several options with one message.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you know your date. December and summer Saturdays go first. For other dates a few weeks is often fine, but earlier gives you more choice.

How do we book?

Fill in our quote form with your date, place and guest numbers. A real person will reply, usually the same day, with what's free and a price. Nothing's booked until you say yes.
