We book fun casinos for charity balls, school PTAs, sports clubs, Rotary and Round Table events and fundraisers of all sizes. It's fun money only. Nobody wins cash and nobody gambles.
How the fundraising usually works
Every event does it a little differently, but most charity casino nights raise money in a few common ways:
- Ticket sales, with a stack of fun money included in the ticket price
- Guests making a donation to the charity for an extra stack of fun money when they run low
- Prizes donated by local businesses, so the money raised isn't spent buying them
- A raffle or auction running alongside the tables
- Sponsorship of a table by a local firm, with their name on a sign
Fun money only
This bit matters. The chips and notes have no cash value and can't be swapped for money. At the end of the night the top players win prizes, given out raffle style, and those prizes are donated rather than bought with stakes. That's what keeps it a fun casino and not gambling.
We don't give legal advice. What we can say is that fun casinos with no real money are a normal part of UK events, and we'll talk through your charity fundraiser set-up with you before you book.
Getting prizes donated
Local businesses are often happy to help, especially if you mention them on the night. Restaurants give meals, hotels give overnight stays, garages give a valet, and gyms give a month's membership. Ask early and ask in person if you can.
A good spread of prizes helps. One big one for the winner and a few smaller ones means more people go home happy, and it keeps the tables busy right to the end.
Put the prizes on display near the tables with the donor's name beside each one. Guests can see what they're playing for, and the businesses get a proper thank you.
Planning the night
Most charity casinos run for around three hours, after a meal or alongside a buffet. As a rough guide, allow one table for every 15 to 25 guests playing at a time. For a charity ball of 150, three or four tables keeps the queues down. For a smaller club night of 50, one or two will do.
Have volunteers ready to handle the extra fun money donations at a desk near the tables, so the croupiers can keep dealing. And make sure someone announces the winners properly. It's the moment everyone waits for.
It also helps to set the donation for extra fun money before the night and put it on a little sign at the desk, so nobody has to ask.
Talk to us first
If you've run a casino night before, tell us what worked and what didn't. If it's your first, that's fine too.
Tell us about the cause, the venue, the date and how many tickets you're hoping to sell. We'll come back with what's free and a price, and we'll confirm exactly what's included. Our fun casino fundraiser guide has more ideas, or you can ask for a quote now.
