Our roulette table hire comes with a croupier who runs the game and teaches beginners as they go, plus fun money for your guests. No real gambling, just a proper casino feel.
Why roulette is always the busiest table
Roulette doesn't need any skill and nobody's playing against anybody else. You put your chips down, the croupier spins, and everyone round the table wins or loses together. That makes it brilliant for mixed groups.
It's also loud, in a good way. A big win on a single number gets a cheer you can hear from the bar. More than any other table, roulette brings people over just to see what's going on.
How to play, in a nutshell
The wheel has numbers from 0 to 36, coloured red or black, with the zero in green. Players place chips on the layout to bet on where the ball will land. The croupier spins the wheel and the ball, calls no more bets, and pays out the winners. Then you go again.
The main bets beginners use are:
- Red or black, which pays even money
- Odd or even, also even money
- A dozen (1 to 12, 13 to 24 or 25 to 36), which pays two to one
- A single number, which pays 35 to one and gets the biggest cheer
Space and numbers
A roulette table is the biggest of the casino tables, and people like to crowd round it. As a rough guide, allow an area of about three metres by four metres for the table, the croupier and players standing round. The tables don't normally need power.
One roulette table handles roughly 15 to 25 people playing at a time, with plenty more watching. For a party of up to around 60, one table on its own can be enough. For bigger events, pair it with blackjack or poker, or add a second wheel.
What guests ask the croupier
The croupier hears the same few questions every night. People want to know what happens on zero (the even money bets lose, which always gets a groan), whether they can cover more than one number (they can, by placing chips on the lines between numbers) and whether there's a system that works. There isn't. That's half the fun.
Where roulette works best
Pretty much anywhere. Office Christmas parties, wedding receptions, birthday parties and charity nights all love it. It suits a crowd who've had a glass or two, because there's nothing to remember and the croupier keeps it moving.
If you're planning a Bond or Monte Carlo night, roulette is a must. It's the game you picture straight away. See our themed casino nights for more.
It's also the table everyone gathers round at the end of the night, when the last few big stacks go all in on one spin.
Prizes and the end of the night
At the end, the croupier counts up everyone's chips and the biggest stacks go forward for the prizes. Prizes are up to you, and as it's fun money it isn't gambling. If you'd like to add more tables, have a look at blackjack table hire, or ask for a quote and we'll suggest a mix.
